April News Update
DIGGING THE DANCING QUEEN
There’s a new face lighting up The Stage — and no, it’s not a spotlight malfunction. It’s Lauren Goossens, our youngest and fiercest coach, bringing unstoppable energy, years of experience, and a whole lot of heart to the dance floor.
Lauren is just 19 (alright, almost 20 — don’t forget to wish her a happy birthday on July 27), but she’s been dancing for nearly as long as she’s been walking. Born and raised in Brasschaat, she grew up in a house full of sports — with two younger twin brothers chasing football dreams — but it was clear early on that Lauren’s arena would be the stage.
From age three, one dance class a week just wasn’t enough. Whether it was a family vacation or the living room, she had to dance. Always first on the floor during poolside aquagyms. Always choreographing. Always performing. The stage wasn’t just where she shone — it’s where she belonged.
But this story isn’t just about rhythm and glitter. It’s about grit. Recently, Lauren faced the devastating loss of her beloved father — an experience that profoundly reshaped how she views movement, health, and self-care. “You only got one body,” she says, “so please take care of it.” For Lauren, dancing isn’t just expression anymore — it’s therapy, a form of self-love, a safe space.
A Life in Motion
Lauren is trained in nearly every style you can think of — ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop — and has been competing since she was eight. These days, her home base is Dance One in Merksem, where she dances under the guidance of Laura and Frank Zegels, teaches toddler classes on Saturday mornings, and yes, occasionally performs as a background dancer at Drag Queen shows (because why wouldn’t she?).
She studies Marketing at Karel de Grote Hogeschool, but don’t be fooled by the textbooks — her mind is always choreographing, always connecting with people, always moving. She’s passionate, social, and ambitious — the kind of coach who remembers your name and notices your growth.
Catch Her on The Stage
At The Brick, you’ll find Lauren leading the charge in our newly rebranded group class space, The Stage — a vibrant, loud, high-energy setting made for high kicks and big vibes. Next to the well known Abs & Butts, she’ll be teaching hip-hop and dance workouts that blend skill-building with full-on fun. Expect latin beats, sweat, and maybe a surprise pose or two at the end. (Yes, you’re allowed to strut.)
Fun Facts & Fierce Feels
She teaches 4-6 year-olds how to dance on weekends — and loves it.
Recharging = quality time with friends, family, or roaming the globe.
(Her travel bucket list is long and ambitious.)
She’s already formed beautiful friendships at The Brick — and is ready for more.
Lauren brings soul, sparkle, and pure dedication to everything she does. Whether you’re here to dance like nobody’s watching or train like the world is, you’ll want to experience her classes. She’s not just here to teach moves — she’s here to move you.
Mission Masala
They met 20 years ago on a sun-soaked dancefloor at Laundry Day. She wore bangles, he wore a big smile. Sparks flew. Dhol drums in their hearts, bass in the background — and just like that, the Indian love story of Pavan and Tim began.
Fast forward two decades and the couple behind Mission Masala is still sizzling — in the kitchen, at the gym, and across the country. They’ve built a mini-empire of restaurants and food trucks, they’re raising a daughter, and they’ve been sweating it out at The Brick for two years now, with their mornings spent in Circus and Strong classes before diving into a day of food, festivals, and fearless flavours. (Pavan also finds her zen in yoga and Pilates — balance is everything.)
Mission: Delicious
What started ten years ago as a single food truck has grown into one of Belgium’s most exciting food brands. From Mission Masala Antwerpen (est. 2018) and Gent, to Bombay BBQ in Brussels and their newest baby — the recently opened Karma Kitchen — their empire now includes four restaurants, a ghost kitchen, a rum, a beer, and a presence at just about every major festival you can think of: Tomorrowland, Pukkelpop, Best Kept Secret, Paradise City…
It all began with Pavan’s childhood in London, where she soaked up the secrets of North Indian cuisine standing beside her mother at the stove. When she moved to Belgium 18 years ago and met Tim — a spicy food addict, DJ (Timaxx!), and co-founder of Barrio Cantina — things clicked instantly. In 2014, they launched Mission Masala from a food truck. The rest is flavorful history.
Their mission? Putting Indian soul food on the Belgian map — loud, proud, and unapologetically colourful. And it’s worked. In 2018, they were crowned Best Fast Casual Concept and Best Concept Restaurant. In 2023, Bombay BBQ won Gault&Millau’s H!P van het jaar. That same year, Pavan appeared as guest chef on MasterChef. And this summer, Karma Kitchen will open in the heart of Brussels — a new concept inspired by flavours from India, Sri Lanka, Singapore and beyond.
The Brick Routine
Between their culinary adventures and raising their daughter, Tim and Pavan carve out time for 3 to 4 workouts a week at The Brick — usually right after school drop-off. You’ll spot them in Circus or Strong classes, working up a sweat and trading coriander for kettlebells. They say movement helps them stay sharp, focused, and balanced. We say: they’re a power couple with serious core strength.
This year is a triple celebration: 20 years together, 10 years of Mission Masala, and Tim’s 50th birthday. (Yes, he ages like a fine rum.) We’re toasting to that — with spice, sweat, and a side of naan.

NEW TOWER REFORMERS
As teased by your ‘vriendin van ‘t stad’, meet the Tower Reformer — a smart fusion of two Pilates icons: the Reformer and the Cadillac. It’s our latest addition to The Brick, and let’s just say… it’s kind of a game changer… Coming later this month!
The Reformer already helps you align your body and spot where things are off — maybe your right side’s doing all the work, or your hip’s been quietly rebelling for years. The Tower adds even more precision and control. It targets what’s weak, stretches what’s tight, and helps your whole body move as one smooth, strong unit. It’s ideal if you want to fine-tune your technique, prevent or recover from injury, or just go deeper in your training.
There is no rose without a thorn unfortunately. Because these new Tower Reformers are big and beautiful and need room to work their magic, we’ll have to say goodbye to Hot Yoga for now. We know it’s a bummer — we loved the steamy, sweaty vibes too. But we’re not leaving you hanging.
In its place, we’re launching a brand-new 75-minute Advanced Vinyasa Flow with Alya. It’s dynamic, smart, and challenging — a class that brings the heat in a whole new way: strong movement, deep breathwork, and that amazing post-flow feeling.
So yes, some change is coming. But trust us, your spine & your core are going to be thrilled. One spring at a time.
JOE & THE JUICE
Big news from our favorite juice bar: Kevin Durant just dropped a collab with Joe & The Juice, and it’s fire. Introducing The Steak — their very first premium sandwich, packing 30+ grams of protein to keep you going strong all day, whether you’re crushing reps at The Brick or just surviving Monday meetings.
What’s in it?
Joe’s classic bread, tender steak, arugula, tomato, pickles, parmesan/Grana Padano, and a honey mustard mayo that hits just right. Inspired by KD’s commitment to performance, this sandwich fuels your grind — on or off the court.
And the best part?
💥 THE BRICK MEMBER PERK
Don’t forget that, as a The Brick member, you get 15% off every time you hit up Joe & The Juice when using the app. That’s smoothies, sandwiches, juices — and now KD’s steak power play.
Swing by, fuel up, and taste greatness. 🏀💪
FRANKIE SAY RELAX
Due to popular demand for longer massages, Frankie decided by himself — as any fully autonomous AI robot would — to level up your recovery routine. From now on, our beloved massage bot will offer 35-minute sessions instead of 20, giving you even more time to unwind, reset, and feel like your best self.
Whether you’re in need of a gentle reset or a deeper release, you can now choose between an updated Relaxing Massage or a Deep Tissue Massage — both designed to work smarter, not harder.
Included in your membership and bookable through the app, Frankie remains Belgium’s first and only AI massage robot, and yes — still a world first when it comes to being part of your gym routine.
More time. More pressure (if you want it). More reasons to say “yes” to that post-workout reward. Frankie’s got you. If you haven’t tried him yet, now is the time. You can book a massage in your app.
CURATED PLAYLISTS
Looking for the perfect soundtrack to power through your next session? We’ve got you covered! Whether you’re after beats to get you pumped or tunes to help you unwind, these playlists are your new workout partner. Plug in, turn up the volume, and let the music move you!
This month features two fine selections: a chill-out one-timer by this months guest deejay TIMAXX from Mission Masala & one by our very own NEYHA.
